Today has been a good day. I returned to CompUSA yet again to return the range expander I bought yesterday. Once I rode the escalator upstairs, I saw a Chinese woman arguing with a surly worker behind the counter. I was rooting for the customer, because the worker was popping her gum and swiveling her over-hairsprayed ponytail to punctuate her screams. (Very New Jersey, I think). I asked another customer in line if this was the returns counter. He laughed, nodded in the direction of the argument, and said, “You’d think so. Look at this!” It actually wasn’t the right place. Fortunately, I returned my range expander with no problem. I was far away from Miss New Jersey.
The weather was really nice today. My tree-lined street was actually chilly with all the shade of the trees and buildings. On the busier streets, it was breezy and the radiation of the sun felt great on my bare arms and legs. Two groups of men, instead of the normal one group, were playing chess on the sidewalk. The ice cream trucks were parked on Amsterdam. Small fruit stands dotted Broadway. People were very smiley. I went to Kim’s and rented Raising Victor Vargas.
I picked up a pizza at the Domino’s across the street from my apartment. (I know, I know, it’s some kind of sin to order pizza from a huge national chain when I live in NYC. I don’t care. It’s closer than anything else and dependably good). When I got home, I found my New York Public Library card in the mail. Yay!
I walked to Riverside Park today to get some fresh air and wish I had a dog to walk. And now I’m listening to the opera coach across the way give a lesson to a struggling male student.
Yawn. I feel content.
