Robert Bly gives me the willies

Oh, I’d love to talk to one of my college sociology professors about this ad from Craigslist:

Straight guy seeks same for thoughtful affectionate friendship - m4m - 36
————————————————————————

Remember when you were a very young boy and your dad would carry you around on your shoulders? Or you’d sit right next to him on the couch? Or roughhouse with him in the living room? Maybe you wished your dad would have done those things.

I’m a young good looking guy whose spent many years in a mythopoetic men’s group inspired by Robert Bly and Michael Meade and I’ve discovered a deep need for male affection. At my men’s group I’ve had the opportunity to physically embrace men for a good two or three minutes. Think about that. That’s an eternity in the world of straight men. A far cry from the quick hug and the vigorous pats on the back that implicity say “I’m not gay.” I’ve also had the opportunity to sit on a couch arm and arm with a good male friend.

I’d like to expand my community with other men who may be interested in this very thing. So, if you’re interested or just curious this please contact me and we can talk about it. Just to be clear, this is NOT a ploy for sex. I’m not interested in sex whatsoever.

this is in or around Upper West Side
no — it’s NOT ok to contact this poster with services or other commercial interests

My question: If it’s not about sex, why does he mention that he’s good looking? Mythopoetic, touchy feely guys would have beards and wear Birkenstocks and cargo pants, I’d think. Maybe he’s something special? It boggles the mind.
