Aggressive vs. assertive

I saw a Yahoo! headline earlier this evening that asked, “Do men like assertive women?” Not interested enough to click the headline, I moved on. A few minutes ago, I meandered onto the Yahoo! main page again, and the headline is different! It now reads, “Do men like aggressive women?”

Two adjectives, two very different connotations. I thought that was interesting.

Nerdily enough, I check the news so often online that I find these sort of changes all the time.
Currently, there’s a news story about a grandmother having her granddaughters touch her in sexual ways on webcam.

This morning, on foxnews.com, the headline was:
    Grandmother Pimps Out Granddaughters Online.

After reading the horrible article, I thought how tactless!

Whoa to your anecdote! Drastic change much? Thanks for sharing this. I’ll be looking for these headline wording changes in the future.
