Public, USA

This is probably the last teaching anecdote I’ll ever post. It comes from Renee, who teaches lower-grade students.

Renee is chaperoning a field trip. While a third grade class rides the subway to their destination, one student stands. He spins around while hanging onto the pole, bumping into fellow passengers.

Renee: Jasim, stop! What have we told you about the proper way to behave in public?

Dramatic pause.

Jasim: In Public? I thought we was in the United States!
