Let’s talk about stocks, baby

Stock market got you down? I stumbled upon this humor article called “How to Talk to Your Kids About Stocks” this week. Here’s an excerpt:

Ages 10-14: By the time they turn 10, most youngsters will begin displaying a natural and healthy curiosity about stocks. Many will start asking questions about why their family looks different from other families: “Why is Bobby’s house bigger than mine?” or “Do all kids get dividends?” At this point, you need to have another talk about the importance of making good decisions when it comes to stocks. Although children in this age group are still too immature to hear about a parent’s experience with stocks, it’s important to impress on them that people who make bad stock decisions as teenagers may never recover. At this point, you may want to buy them one of the young-adult books on the subject. (Discreetly leave it on their pillow if they’re too embarrassed.) Although it has been banned from some school libraries for its frankness, a superb book is Are You There God? It’s Me, Mary Meeker.

Hi. I found your blog not too long ago because I was writing a blog about BK’s Apple Fries. I was doing a search for an image of them and found your blog. Anyway, I read some posts and was completely captured by your funny and interesting writing. [I'm not a stalker, nor a lesbian. Although, there's nothing wrong with being either of those things. Well, um, maybe something could be wrong with being a stalker. Like, if you're a violent stalker. If I was a stalker, I would be non-violent. But I'm not a stalker. Writing so much about how I'm NOT a stalker is starting to make me feel a little like a stalker so I'm going to stop now.]

Anyway, I bookmarked your blog because I loved the posts I had read. Then I forgot about your blog. [sorry!] Time passed and I started trying to organize my bookmarks. [who saves a website -for two years- that translates stories into "pirate talk" - ? I do.] I saw the bookmark for this site and came back. As I read [and laughed] I came across the dog-nephew bulldog post, which then led to the post about your bulldog passing. I have a bulldog as well. Now, I know a lot of people in the world have bulldogs, but I felt the need to leave you a comment simply based on the fact that you clearly love bulldogs. Well, thruthfully, you are awesomely funny, you notice things like BK Apple Fries AND you love bulldogs - so that’s why I am leaving a [long] comment. You are sbsolutely my new favorite blog.
