Yes, we can (of spray paint)

I spotted this graffiti at a subway exit in Washington Heights tonight. It made me smile.

Really Amanda? Vandalism? That’s what makes you smile?

  2. Amanda says:

I’d rather see graffiti about politics - and a momentous moment in American history at that - than just plain tags or graffiti about gangs.

This is a little…plain….but some graffiti is quite intricate and requires some level of artistic skill. I see no problem with graffiti if it is not meant to incite violence or hate.

Some graffiti is amazing, it’s true. Think of Banksy, who is clever and topical or some of the artists who don’t stencil but actually paint gorgeous images. There can be a fine line between graffiti and a masterpiece. That being said, I don’t celebrate negative crap about who objectified who or gang stuff. Try some originality, people.
