Holding on tight

My sister Megan was in a car accident yesterday morning that could have been fatal. She was broadsided when another driver ignored a stop sign. Airbags went off; the windshield shattered. The car was hit so hard it was turned around.

A few days ago, I put some postcards in the mail for my parents and sister. Because I knew Valentine’s Day was coming up, I decided to write really bad “Roses are red, violets are blue…” messages. How crazy would it be for my sister to have not been able to read hers, because she was unconscious in a hospital or worse?

That’s why my valentine today is none other than the seatbelt that kept my sister from flying through a windshield. Megan’s bruised and sore, but very very lucky.

Scary! Glad she’s okay. This didn’t happen in NJ, did it? I was right behind a similar accident and avoided being the one hit by mere minutes. [thanks to my peanut-sized bladder that made me delay leaving my house by 2 minutes]

Nope, she was in Texas. Glad you were okay. How often do we miss stuff like that by mere minutes? It’s crazy to think about…

  3. Jeremy says:

Glad she was ok, it is a testimony to the modern safety standards of the automobile that she was only bruised in such a accident. Do you know what happened to the guy the blew the sign?

I am so glad to hear she will be ok. Hang in there….that is why we should never take our family members for granted. We never know what may happen. You and your family are in my prayers….

Thanks for your kind wishes, everyone. The guy who hit her doesn’t have insurance or a driver’s license. He also was borrowing someone else’s car. A very shady dude.
