Running up

A story I wrote for a contest on PNN.com was named runner up. It was my first real attempt to write fiction.

The judge, novelist Katherine Center, had this to say about “A First Date”:

A “charming piece,” said Katherine, with a “terrific and evocative opening line”: “If the world’s a stage, then I’d like to tap the mic and ask, ‘Is this thing on?’”

Hooray!

The story’s being re-worked. Some people have suggested I make it the first chapter of a novel. I’m not sure about that, but here’s the contest version of “A First Date.”
