What I Wore: Wednesday, Wednesday, so good to me…

Last week, I took some time off to do nothing special. Ever do that? Just stay home and think, “Normally, I’d be at work; most other people are at work,” and it feels amazing?

I did that for two days.

Actually, on Monday evening I went to a taping of Late Show with David Letterman and saw Alicia Keys perform. That’s technically special. She’s wonderful.

I also saw Toby Maguire. Yes, he really is that small.

On Tuesday, I went to dinner with my friend and his friend whom I would now like to be my friend.

By the time I returned to work Wednesday, I was feelin’ groovy. I decided to put my clothing where my mind was and don a floaty top with poppies. (Try and say that last part five times fast).

I put the top over a navy shirt. Wearing voluminous summery clothes on top of tight, long-sleeved shirts  is one of my favorite looks, actually. Especially bright colors and patterns over solids.

This is so elementary, I know, but I looked lame the first year I had to wear winter clothes. If I can prevent one other person from repeating this mistake, I won’t blog in vain.

My denim pencil skirt sometimes rides up when I sit a long time. I should pull it down, but I do interpretive dances instead.

This very soft purple scarf has gold sparkles woven through it, yet manages not to look cheesy. I’m not sure how that’s possible. Elves, maybe? An ancient Japanese curse?

Hmm…

But wait! There’s more!

I also wore my new vintage Frye cowgirl boots with purple tights.

It was only my third time wearing them, as new boots are made for limping. But I definitely broke them in walking around at a Wired Store party and even playing Wii skateboarding in them. I don’t recommend that, by the way.

I’d like to propose we make Wednesday the new Monday.

Now who do I talk to about that?
