Spring into fashion

I’m getting really tired of people who say “Spring has sprung,” but I think it may be time to pack up all the warm, woolen clothing I’ve been wearing for months.

Don’t say this aloud, though. It seems there’s some sort of strange curse unleashed when one remarks that the weather’s finally warming up.

Ahem. I know it’s technically spring, and I certainly hope to start dressing like it. Emphasis on the tentative. Ahem.

Today I was up really early and decided to go swinging in Central Park.

You might say I was actually up late - I never went to sleep between Saturday night and now.

The day’s been glorious. I ate lunch at 11 and then went to a farmer’s market and took some pictures and video. Then more schlepping in the sun. By 1:30, I was ready to call it a day.

By 2:00, I’d had some caffeine and decided that I can do this, I should do this all the time. This is how life should be. Sleep is for the weak.

(I’m starting to reconsider now).

Another trip I took: a visit to one of my favorite thrift stores. I forgot to bring the bag of clothing I need to donate, but I found some treasures for me. My total was about $13.

Here’s a brown beret I have no intention of wearing anytime soon. If Mother Nature’s okay with that.

I know I’m at her mercy and all, but I’ve had enough staticky hat hair experiences to rival all the bad hair in the hatless days of my youth.

And people, I had a perm. Including curly bangs that resembled a poodle’s matted belly hair.

This straw hat is more like it! It’s feminine, but not too silly. It’ll also go with all of the summer clothes I have.

I got a suspicious mole removed Friday. Tests are being conducted to see if it’s skulks-about-the-mall-wearing-baggy-jeans suspicious or you’ve-got-skin-cancer suspicious. Either way, I need to do a better job shielding my skin. Ixnay on the UV rays.

My leap of faith purchase was this embroidered Mexican tunic dress. It’s bright and perfect and child-size.

I tried it on over my shirt at the store and couldn’t get my head through the opening. I started imagining myself having to get cut out of the thing, but I bought it anyway. At the very least, I could make it into a pillow or something.

When I got home, I gave it a shot without the shirt underneath.

It fits!

It’s not the thing to wear when you need quick costume changes (or if you happen to have a normal-sized bosom), but it’s perfect for me.

As long as I don’t sneeze too hard, I guess.

Bring it on.

Those are nice but you should have posted a picture with them on :)

I’m hoping to, especially the dress/shirt and straw hat. It looks like NYC’s getting rain for the next few days, though.

I spent the weekend in the city. It was 73 degrees and perfect. I did not enjoying coming back to my life in Erie, PA where it is currently 37 and raining.

Steve, it’s warmer here but dreary gray. Sigh.
