Why Noisiest Passenger?
The name of my blog comes from this Aldous Huxley quote:
“My fate cannot be mastered; it can only be collaborated with and thereby, to some extent, directed. Nor am I the captain of my soul; I am only its noisiest passenger.”

But what happened to Amanda’s MsAdventures?
I just wasn’t feeling it enough… Also, I wanted the name of the site to match the domain.

I’m thinking of visiting/moving to NYC. Do you have any advice?
Lots. Check out some of these posts about life in NYC or contact me with specific questions. I’m happy to help. In short: Do come, ride the subway, don’t eat at any chain restaurants you have at home, and check out the other boroughs!

Where in Texas are you originally from?
I grew up in Odem, a town so small there’s no pizza delivery. My family now lives in Corpus Christi, home of Whataburger®, slain Tejano singer Selena, and brown tide.

Do you miss teaching?
Only on days I’m feeling masochistic. Seriously, though, I do some reading/writing tutoring on the side so I have plenty of chances to flex my didactic muscles.

So what do you do now?
I’m living the English major’s dream: Working full-time as a writer and paying the bills. I write for a downtown dot-com by day and freelance (creative, marketing, and copywriting) by night.

Who’s TBID?
He’s The Boy I’m Dating I Dated. We met in February ‘08 and have been liking each other ever since broke up in July ‘09. I used this acronym to write about him before he knew I had a blog. The name stuck. As long as he’s on my good side mind, he gets a place in the FAQ.

I’ve been reading your old posts. You never talk about ______ anymore. What happened?
Maybe ______ turned out to be a jerk. Or just wasn’t that interesting. Then again, he or she may have been swallowed up by the Earth.
