I’m dressing up as a writer this year

This is as dressed up as I got for Halloween. (I was helping Mike accessorize his costume during our lunch break). After a long week, I’m thrilled to be in sweats in my quiet, warm apartment with TBID miles away working on music stuff. My date tonight is Spike Lee.

Has anyone else noticed that Target now sucks?

First, the Bullseye Bodega was disappointing.

Thrift store chic

Some people fall in love and get fat. I got cheap, and I was already cheap. My thrifting activity dropped off in the last five months or so. But I’ve gotten back in the habit in the last few weeks, as my tutoring load has lightened. It really isn’t the most logical venture - I’m shopping more on less money. Oh, well. Maybe that’s why AM New York didn’t really let me share my “wisdom” a few months ago.

Bringing the carnival to me

It’s a good thing I have dental insurance. I made caramel apples tonight and have nearly extracted some lower incisors in my zeal. Caramel is mad sticky, yo. I can’t get it off my face, so I’m rubbing vigorously with my index finger and then sticking said finger in my mouth. Can’t waste my treats! I’m country, ya’ll.

Why thrift stores rule

I bought these treasures for a total of $15 this afternoon. Pictured clockwise, they include pristine copies of The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay and Me Talk Pretty One Day for TBID, a small mother of pearl box, and a red winter hat.

What my iPhone noticed

It’s been awhile since I posted iPhone pictures of my week in review. Frankly, things haven’t been that exciting. Surely not as exciting as the election or the economic situation. Did I say “exciting”? Maybe I meant “terrifying”.

What Ned did Saturday night

I spent some of last weekend in Brooklyn with Jeremy and his dog-nephew Ned. I’d been wanting to meet Ned for a few years now, so I was pleased to hit it off with the snorty little guy. He’s much more svelte and spry than Abby was in her later years (or maybe any of them).

My next victim

My nasal passages are finally done fighting gravity. I feel so much better today. I got more done in the last fifteen hours than I did all last week. Unfortunately, I need to stay on the wagon and do some freelance work tonight.

Won’t require potty training, as far as I know

I got a pet today. Well, a plant, but one about as active as my beloved Abbydog was.
