It comes naturally

Today I emailed Sam with the following writing prompt: Tell me one random memory that you’ve found popping into your head lately. You don’t have to know why you’re remembering it, just share it.

Riding the #6

I really love public transportation. I love the communal experience, getting driven by someone else to where I need to go, and the thinking, reading, and listening that can be done en route. Today I was thinking of this old email I wrote to Sam back in the day, after riding the #6 in Austin:

Side projects

This morning I woke up with a purpose. Of course, I suppose I always wake with a purpose. I have fifty-two kids to deal with every weekday, but they tend to disgust me so much that I really consider staying in bed. (I should give them credit, though, they’ve been pretty good the last two days. I’m especially referring to my homeroom/ELA/SS class).

Ambiance of negligence

*I wrote this during my last semester of college. I called this “The Ambiance of Negligence.” You’d think with a title like that, I’d be writing about the need for NYC public school reform or a terrible dive with roaches that is still a popular eating establishment. No. I was just being haughty and contemplative.

The orange fingers made it all the more embarrassing

*Remember, everybody. A Buddy Christ picture means that an old writing of mine from a previous site has been resurrected. See, it’s clever. Not non sequitur. I don’t want to be Ms. Non Sequitur with the random religious pictures.
